Todd Harrington is the president and owner of Harrington’s Organic Land Care, an organic proactive lawn, tree and shrub care business founded in 1987 as “Organicare”. With Todd’s extensive knowledge, love of plants and dedication to the Green Industry, Todd has grown Harrington’s to a customer base of 2,000 commercial and residential customers around the Hartford area and beyond. He is a true forerunner in the industry, passionately trying to preserve and protect the landscapes and the environment through the use of organics.

As a Tree Care Company “Organicare” back in the early 90′s Todd noticed that his customers with “perfect” chemically treated lawns whose trees were not responding to his organic soil amendments, he expanded his organic soil amendment program for trees and shrubs to include an organic lawn care program as an alternative to chemically based ones. Harrington’s Organic Land Care was the first completely organic lawn care program in the Hartford area.

As vice president and founder of Sustainable Growth Inc., Todd traveled to Turkey to consult with apple orchard owners about organically managing their orchards with compost tea. Working with Arborjet, he also has traveled to Abu Dhabi and Dubia in the United Arab Emirates to consult with the crown prince to help solve a major insect problems in their date palm orchards. He has also been consulting with many other companies around the country helping people and companies transition from chemical to sustainable methods.

His newest endeavor is running his lab, selling organic products, and consulting for other commercial landscaping, nurseries, golf courses and farm operations. His company Harrington’s Organic Land Care has over 25 years experience in organic and sustainable plant care, specializing in the manufacturing and applying of compost extract, compost teas and compost. “We custom build compost tea extractors, brewers and spray equipment. Our passion from day one has been educating and teaching people and businesses how to transition from chemical dependent to organic and sustainable. We have been consulting with companies around the country and oversees helping customers reach their goals and save valuable time and money. He is recognized nationally and internationally as a true pioneer and expert in organic plant care having made it his business since 1987. He is an international consultant and national organic speaker and trainer who has written numerous published papers – of which some have been employed as the basis for legislation. Todd is certified by the Soil Food Web®, headed by Dr. Elaine Ingham, who is internationally recognized as one of the world’s preeminent soil microbiologists. She is a former professor at the University of Oregon and is the only scientist with soil labs around the world. Harrington’s had become an affiliated Soil Food Web lab in the spring of 2008.

It also helps explain why he’s in such demand as a soil consultant around the world or why he’s been invited to testify in front of the Connecticut State Legislature. He’s an author, frequent public speaker and the guy his customers turn to time and time again.
